Internet Business Online: A level playing field?
Internet businesses online will continue to level the playing field
An internet business
online provides an excellent opportunity for a worldwide presence for a
small business. It is now quickly being recognized that an internet
business online may yield significant profits for both small and very
large companies. Also, it is relatively easy for both large and small
companies to establish a business on the web. However, it seems that it
may be relatively more advantageous for smaller companies over larger
businesses for several reasons, including the ratio of profits
attributable to the online enterprise, and also to the fact that the
ever-changing world of the Internet requires an enormous amount of
flexibility to facilitate the success of the Internet business online.
Internet business online- Smaller businesses make proportionately more
income from the internet:
Although the
expenditure of time and money may or may not be comparable between
large and smaller companies, small companies that build websites
frequently generate as much revenue as the larger businesses related to
their internet enterprises. Relatively speaking, $1 million to a small
company is a much higher percentage of income than to a larger company.
This amount of profit to a larger company may be relatively
insignificant, making it much less of a priority to the overall business
operations. Obviously, that level of revenue is not insignificant to a
small Internet business online.
Internet business online-Larger companies may
find an online business to be an afterthought:
Small internet
businesses online that have truly grasped the e-commerce concept
frequently have benefited by increasing their market share. An Internet
business online frequently is seen to be advantageous to a larger
company only when a much smaller, unknown business has taken market
share away from them.
An
internet business online may have incredible flexibility for the small
business.
Large bureaucracies
are not known for their flexibility and speed of innovation. With a
small internet business online, one individual with superb technical
skills may be able to create a web site easily comparable to that of a
large company in a very short period of time. It is much easier for a
small business to change its internal infrastructure to adapt to the
constantly changing face of e-commerce. Large companies have a tendency
to be much slower in responding to the need for innovation due to their
huge bureaucracies, which may be a great detriment to an Internet
business online. This may be a huge advantage for small businesses who
can innovate very quickly without dealing with the many levels of
bureaucracy and the politics of a large business. This will be one of
the great challenges to large businesses trying to compete in the future
with small businesses on the World Wide Web, in that they will need to
change their internal infrastructure to provide flexible systems which
support the ever-changing demands of an Internet business online.
